Ishigaki island is a gorgeous laid back island. The local people were so friendly. It’s a wonderful place to explore the reef and nature of the island. Make sure you have google translate as it an be difficult to work out the menus. We loved the snorkeling trip, saw turtles, sea snakes and Nemo. Bana park is lovely to explore. So much to do here. We hired a car to explore the whole island.

Tip: 1) avoid the buses as most as you can! Bikerentals are awesome! Maesato beach belongs to a hotel but day guests are welcome, just follow the signs on the property.
Tip 2) Definitely take a ferry to Taketomi, rent a bike there
Tip 3) Taxi to airport is about 3500 yen
Tip 4) Find out when rain season is

Most of the island's attractions - shopping, restaurants, hotels, the port to access other islands and the airport bus - are within a two minute walk of each other. I didn't visit the attractions outside of the centre because I didn't have a car and the local buses didn't run frequently but I had lots to do nonetheless. Took a very enjoyable day trip to Taketomi Island.

The accommodation offered a breathtaking view of coral reefs with a lush jungle as its backdrop. We spent our days walking down to the nearby beach, enjoying swims and snorkelling adventures in the warm waters. Our host even took us on a tour where he showed us clownfish, adding a layer of wonder to our stay. If you're a nature enthusiast yearning for a tropical escape that connects you with the natural world, this place is an absolute paradise.

I liked that you can get around in short time and still have a big variety of things you can do. I was there in Feb and no watersports was possible for me as it was too cold. Went to Karibe for a walk and to Iriomote for a bike ride.

A beautiful island, which is surprisingly big as it takes about 3 hours / 120km to drive the ourter circumference.
Once you get outside of the main town it is exceedingly quite, with beachtiful beaches and countryside.
A car is a must!
The main town has easy access by boat to other remote islands. Taketomi was only about 15 minutes away, with stunning beaches, a good bike rental service with shuttle bus from the port and ox-cart rides!

This is an excellent hotel and location for Ishigaki. The port to go to the other nearby islands for adventure are only a 3 minute walk away! Due to Covid and less travelers, the cost for a room now is about a 1/3 of its usual cost, especially for this time of year. Scuba diving on Ishigaki is excellent with a chance to dive with giant mantas if you are here especially in Sept and Oct (I highly recommend Prime Scuba Ishigaki for an all day 3 dive boat trip with an excellent lunch included...they know where to find Mantas ;)
Clean hotel, we’ll maintained by the friendly owners in the heart of nice Kabira Bay, close to restaurants and a small convenience store.
The hotel has a vacation, island vibe and the owners let you feel at home.
We had tow Japanese style rooms: sleeping on tatami, small bathroom, small fridge and water boiler. Every day new towels.
It’s indeed nice to look at the stars from the roof of the hotel or have a coffee in the morning up there.
Would stay here again and recommend the guesthouse.
The place is very nice and clean, it has 2 tatami rooms and 2 western-style bed lofts; the tatami room is very spacious and comfy. Good wifi and nice tables on the terrace where you can have breakfast if the weather is good.
Bathrooms and showers are spanking new, luxury!!
The manager is super nice and makes a killer taco rice in the cafe next door, make sure you check it out!
First of all, I like the staffs very much. They are friendly and helpful. Also, I enjoyed staying and exchanging information with other guest. In addition, the location was perfect for the people who prefer staying at calm or idyllic places. You can enjoy sun set at Sukuji beach and encounter one of the most beautiful bays (Kabira Bay) in Ishigaki island with walk distance.
It's so close to the beach, and have a beautiful view. And swimming pool can heat itself too. And food is amazing, there are many kind of dessert, food, drink.
And room is clean and cleaning happens when we are not in here. And the workers are kind they can speak English and Japan. And they gives advice to where to go travel.
The staff is lovely and so is the owner, Josh! We had a late flight back and he let us keep the room for the day, because our backs were sunburned so badly we couldn’t stay in the sun/heat. We could rent a car at the hôtel (do it!) and the staff picked us up and dropped us back at the airport. The best service ever!
Fully automated hotel, there are no people at the reception. You open door with an application and it is convenient. Room is rather large for Japan, bus stop is nearby and it is easy to reach port. Room has kitchen , washing and drying machines - perfect for my diving trip. I stayed 1 week - it was good.
The location was great and the facilities were really comfortable, I felt at home.
Was the best staff I have experienced interacting with from all hotel stays in my life.
They were personable and genuinely cared that I was comfortable. Whenever I had a special need they did their best to help.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is right next to the bus terminal and in front of the ferry terminal as well. There may be some new rooms but ours was quite dated and I bet it used to be a smoking room a few years ago. Recommend it purely for the location.
Resort feels like what you’d find in Asia, very nice decoration with some authenticity, nice and spacious rooms, several restaurants (which we didn’t get to try during COVID/Emergency State in the Okinawa prefecture), fantastic pool, and right at the beach.
The food served for breakfast was amazing! It was much better than many local restaurants. The hotel definitely lives up to its name. Very convenient location. Open drink bar from 17-20 (sometimes even longer). I strongly recommend this place.
Liked the breakfast buffet, the pool was nice, the staff were friendly and accommodating - always willing to help and always were greeting us, and hotel location was close to town. The staff made our stay wonderful experience thank you!!
Breakfast buffet was full of Okinawa local foods. Delicious and delightful.
Room was cozy with good harbor view,
Hotel building was clean and cozy, but seemed not new fashioned. But, that made little bit nostalgic mood nice to stay.
The best part of this hotel is the homeade rolls for breakfast! The location was perfect for taking a ferry in the morning, and even though we missed breakfast they gave us a bag with two delicious bread products each.
The location of the hotel was superb for accessing both the port, bus station and all the wonderful restaurants. The breakfast is particularly good, and sets you up for the day.
Close to the harbour so easy to get ferries to the other islands.
Clean and very comfortable. Very spacious for a Japanese apartment. Well equipped Helpful owner
